The History of Multi-Stage Hot In-Place Asphalt Recycling and the Ecopaver 400 Today Multi-Stage Hot In-Place Asphalt Recycling has evolved into a high performance, stand alone treatment suitable for major highways and airport runways. It has been developed over the past 25 years in British Columbia Canada where over 9000 lane kilometers have been completed.
Early Challenges When Single Stage Hot In-Place Asphalt Recycling was first introduced to British Columbia back in the early 80’s, there were issues relating to the quality of the product and smoke emissions. The Ministry of Transportation warned that they would discontinue using it if improvements were not made.
Innovative Solutions Beginning with the invention of Multi-Stage Hot Milling by key members of today's Ecopave Group, there has been a process of continuous innovation and improvement. Today it is established as standard practice in the province and is used on the busiest highways and major airport runways.
Enabled by 25 Years of Experience Over the past 25 years there were multiple iterations of equipment and methods developed and tested and the Ecopave Group was at the center of this process. Today we have this wealth of experience and knowledge to draw from. When we designed the current Ecopaver 400 we carefully selected all of the best ideas, designs and components that have proven superior over the years.
